Want to get away from it all? Escape was broadcast on CBS between July 1947 and September 1954. The theme music was Moussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain". Early intros typically reminded the listener of various boring or tiring things happening in their lives, and offered them a chance to escape, at least for a while, to a more exciting scenario. Narrators were William Conrad and Paul Frees.
The first two 30-second intros included in these soundclip files depict what the authors considered as "boring" for the week. Also note the inclusion of "CBS offers" rather than "we offer" in the later script.
