Allen Ludden

$64 was big money in the Golden Age of radio. Winning a silver dollar was great too!

Did Allen Ludden Host a Game/Quiz show on the radio during the 1950's?

I enjoy watching him on Password.
Now that would have worked well on the radio.

Allen Ludden had a radio show, "Mind Your Manners", in the early 50s. In 1950, it received the Peabody Award for "best show on the air for young people". He was also associated with radio's "College Quiz Bowl" around 1953.

Apparently, the idea for the TV show, "Password" came up in 1960, written by Mark Goodson-Bill Todman and Bob Stewart.

I wish I had seen him more. I was lucky enough to see him once at Carnegie Hall during the PHJB Anniversary show and he was fantastic. Never had another chance but so glad I saw him that time.

RIP Allen.
