Famous Weekly Old-Time Radio Shows
The Mysterious Traveler (also reviewed in the Best & Worst of OTR page). The trademark of this weekly series was the train whistle played during the intro and exit segments. The program was first heard on the Mutual network in December, 1943. It was broadcast on Saturdays or Sundays at various times until 1948, when it started making the rounds of weeknights (usually heard around 9:00 PM).
