Famous Weekly Old-Time Radio Shows
Duffy's Tavern was broadcast on CBS from early 1941 to the middle of 1942. It then moved to NBC Blue 'till the end of 1943. It was first sponsored by Shick, and later Sanka. When, in 1944, it moved to NBC, Ipana became the sponsor. Blatz Beer sponsored it for about a year starting in late '49.

Interestingly enough, the "Tavern" part of the series' name was omitted in 1943, apparently because of CBS' concern over an appearance of promoting the consumption of alcohol.

This is a seven-second soundbyte of "Archie the Manager" answering the phone at the place "Where the Elite Meet to Eat".
