Artist, Dave Warren, passed away on March 19, 2002. He produced a wide variety of artwork -- everything ranging from Ulysses S. Grant to Jesus Christ to Richard Diamond. Yes, he was an amazing artist.
As manager for Adventures in Cassettes (an old time radio catalog that was bought out in 1999), I first saw Dave's work on the covers of the Old Time Radio Digest. Even in black and white, his artwork impressed me. When I contacted him, I asked if he did color. Yes he did.
Dave and I stayed in touch over the last few years -- Dave sending me pictures of his artwork and short notes. I, in turn, telling him about my family and always exclaiming how much I loved his art. (Oddly enough, we never met face-to-face!)
I got a letter from him at Christmas time this past year and I knew he wasn't feeling well. I was so sad when I heard that he had passed away. But, he gave me a gift. He gave all of old time radio lovers a marvelous gift: his amazing talent.
I hope you'll take a moment to look at some of his wonderful covers. Click on the thumbnail in the left frame, and a full size image will appear in this frame. If you have a slow connection, the full size image might take a few seconds to appear, but the visual experience is worth the wait.
God speed, Dave Warren -- And thank you!!
(PS - My many thanks to Lou Genco, an amazing "Web Artist", for putting this Memorial on his Web Site!)
