Hello -
My father, Conrad Temple, was a small town policeman in southern Virginia when Roy Kelly killed several policement in North Carolina. Kelly stopped in South Hill, VA, to eat lunch at the Horseshoe Restaurant and my father arrested him as he walked to his car.
This was featured on Gangbusters, and my entire family gathered around the radio to hear it.
I would love to find a recording of this episode, or if that isn't possible, a transcript of the show.
Does anyone know if this episode survived?
Thank you all in advance.

Hi!

Do you have an approximate timeframe in which that episode might have been broadcast?

Jerry Haendiges has a Gangbusters log, at
http://www.otrsite.com/logs/logg1016.htm

That might be a good starting place. Unfortunately, none of the episode titles contains the name "Kelly" or "Carolina", so you would have to look at all the episode titles within a specified timeframe to find possibilities.

I was in junior high school when it aired, so that would be about 1940- my father died in '42 and he was still alive when it aired, and couldn't have been before 1938. Thanks for the link, I will sure look at that log!

I just checked Martin Grams Jr.'s book Gang Busters.

There are 3 episodes of Gang Busters that mention "Kelly" in the episode title.
They are:

09/07/1935 - The Case Of Machine Gun Kelly (G-Men)

10/26/1938 - The Case Of Clarence 'Buck' Kelly
(This episode takes place in California.)

03/21/1941 - The Kelly And Huffman Case

Unfortunately, none of these survive.

Signing off for now,
