Where did it come from?

There is a line In a play in which I am acting--"Slowly I turned. Step by step I crept toward them." Many people recognize it and some think it is from an old radio show. So I'm curious Where did it come from? any ideas?

It sounds like a line that went very similar to that in an Abbott and Costello movie from 1944 called "Lost In A Harem". There is also an episode of the Abbott and Costello radio show where the skit is performed but I can't remember which episode. It was also repeated on their TV show.
