Old Radio Show

Postby omar3826 » Thu Dec 06, 2012 2:26 pm

I remember a show where a salesman ( I think ) knocked on a door with the same pattern all the time and saying " I guess there is no one home " and as soon as he said it, someone would appear at the door and the show would start. Am I crazy ?

Your memory concerns the Al Pearce Show (also called Al Pearce and his Gang) which aired on NBC from 1934 through the 40s and then on CBS. It frequently had a skit involving Elmer Blurt, an insecure insurance salesman, who would knock on a prospective customer's door, while muttering "Nobody home, I hope, I hope, I hope."
