I recently acquired what is for me a Holy Grail of OTR: the actual script Jack Benny used in one of his radio shows.
He has pencilled in several changes, and you can still see what had been there before. The changes definitely make the show funnier!
The title page is marked "PROGRAM #2 - REVISED SCRIPT". Several entire paragraphs are crossed out, and I am assuming these parts were dropped when the rehearsal ran overtime. Does anyone know if that's how they did it? And does anyone have any idea why the name of one of the characters was changed from Ryan to Jones?
I've posted the first three pages of the script at http://danhughes.net/radio/jackscript.htm .

Re: Jack Benny's Script
Two years ago I started a Radio Players group for the residents of the retirement community we live in. We have gotten our scripts off of the internet in the public domain. We do only comedies ( easier to cover when goof ups occur!). The dirth of well written old time scripts for radio is becoming an issue. I have gotten some ref. material from my college library including a ref. guide called radio scripts in print. However, the location of the scripts is all over the country in collections of libraries that won't lend out material, out of date books, etc. Can you advise me where to find scripts?
