Looking for 40's talk/game shows featuring Betty MacDonald

Postby CathyB » Thu Dec 11, 2008 12:00 pm

I'm trying to find several radio talk show programs and game shows which featured an author named Betty MacDonald. She appeared on many of these kinds of programs during the years 1946-1948. After 1949 until 1958, her radio and television appearances were sporadic.

I have specific dates, times and stations for about a dozen programs, and would love to be able to hear a recording. I know the Library of Congress has two recordings of the Mary Margaret McBride show, in which Betty's sister, Mary Bard, is interviewed.

Additionally, Betty and Mary's mother, Mrs. D. C. Bard, wrote a radio drama called Schuyler Square, which aired on Seattle's KOL radio for 13 months, from 1933-1934. I would love to find an old recording of that serial.

I'm trying to document the life and work of author Betty MacDonald. Please contact me if you have any suggestions or advice on locating these old radio recordings.
