I am looking to purchase the entire known collection of "cavalcade of america". Can someone point me in the direction of where I can do this. I am a room helper at school for my 3rd grade daughter and have got permission to start having a once a week listening party of Old radio shows on fridays at the school. I thought through my research that this series would be the best dual purpose radio show to play for the kids(a radio show that would be enjoyable and have a history spotlight to it). If I am wrong please let me know if there is another better radio show that I can get for this purpose. I am new to OTR stuff. My 74 year old Dad inspired this to me only since July this year. We now listen alot together and it has brought he and I hours of enjoyment. Then one day in August my daughter sat in the living and was listening to a couple old shows with us. and was quite infatuated with it. That's when the lightbulb went off in my head that if my daughter enjoyed this stuff enough to stop playing for a couple of hours and enjoyed the listening of mysteries on radio, I could use this media format for possibly educating her on other things. Besides she now has a blossoming imagination due to the radio shows. So if anyone could help me with getting this or another series if there is a better one suited for education of 3rd graders it would be really nice. After playing a couple of shows I downloaded from a website I found and playing them to her Teacher one afternoon at school she was intrigued by the possibilities of education utilizing these as a way to have fun and at the same time educate the kids.
Thank you, Nick Anasis

You might check the various catalogs and offerings of the sponsors of this site. Shows are available on several different types of media -- from open reel tapes to MP3s.

Well, if you are looking for mp3 versions, one of the better quality places is otrcat.com which has a six disk set (391 shows) for $30.

I have nothing to do with otrcat.com, I have just heard some good things about it.

There are several web sites that play continuous OTR shows. WNAR-AM has a regular program schedule, so it would be the closest to tuning in a regular radio show. Larger libraries have OTR shows on CDs and cassettes that you could check out. I think you have a wonderful mission. Radio and reading are the two best theaters of the mind we have. Then there is a poor close third choice. Let me see, I think it's called tele-vision. Or something like that. Then there is a medium where large images are projected onto a screen where people pay to sit in a darkened room to watch moving images that talk. However that medium reached its maturity in the 1960s and has declined into senility since then. :P (Hey, gotta have a sense of humor.) Best! L'chaiym! (Hal Evans)
