Fred Allen's Radio Comedy by Alan Havig; Temple University Press
Mr. Havig's book presents a very careful and enlightening study of Allen's radio work and the world in which it was delivered. One of Havig's main resources was the scripts themselves as stored at the Library of Congress, and this gives his study a much greater depth than just a listen to the surviving recordings would.
Highly recommended, especially for comedy fans.
