THE HILARY CAINE MYSTERIES --- ------ ----- --------- 2005 - Present By: Stewart Wright Initial Compilation: 02/01/2007 Last Update: 04/30/2011 Copyright 2011 by Stewart Wright First Show: 05/29/2005 Last Show: Series is still in production Number of Shows: 9 and counting SERIES BACKGROUND: Jim French Productions has added a new entry to its ensemble of radio detective series: THE HILARY CAINE MYSTERIES. The Hilary Caine character is the creation of British writer M J Elliott. He has written several short stories about Hilary that have been published in the United Kingdom. M J is writing all-new adventures for radio dramatization. Elliott is also the primary writer for RAFFLES, THE GENTLEMAN THIEF and THE CLASSIC ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES and has penned several scripts for IMAGINATION THEATRE, KINCAID - THE STRANGESEEKER, THE ADVENTURES OF HARRY NILE, and THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. THE HILARY CAINE MYSTERIES air as part of IMAGINATION THEATRE on KIXI in Seattle and is syndicated as part of IMAGINATION THEATRE on radio stations in the United States and on Sirius XM satellite radio. It is also heard around the world over the Internet. SERIES DESCRIPTION: Hilary Caine is a young woman who shares a trait possessed by some famous fictional detectives; that of ratiocination: the ability to investigate using a reasoned train of thought. She is employed by the English tabloid Tittle-Tattle Magazine in the capacity of "Girl Detective." Her 1930s cases, published under the banner of "Hilary Caine, Girl Detective," are all rewritten by the Tittle-Tattle staff to remove Hilary's various personality quirks and present her in the most positive light as a cross between the illustrious Sherlock Holmes and his low-rent cousin, Sexton Blake. She sometimes belittles her skill as a detective and promises herself that she will soon quit the employ of the sleazy tabloid and find a real job. As a result of living a real and imaginary life, Hilary is occasionally confused about where fact ends and fiction begins. For example, she sometimes claims to have met several celebrated fictional detectives including Sherlock Holmes.
