Technical Query
Page

Thanks for taking the time to send me a message. Be assured that it will get the attention it deserves. Because of the number of messages I get with various requests, from my personal site as well as others I support, please note the following recommendations, if your question concerns my old-time radio pages:

  1. Before asking a question, read the OTR FAQ and the information already posted at www.old-time.com, or at the site from which you accessed this page. There is a good chance the answer is there. There is even a local search engine in which you enter keywords of your choice, to help you find things at www.old-time.com.

  2. You should consider posting your question to a larger audience, by using one of the online OTR Bulletin Boards or the Internet OTR Digest, or even the alt.radio.oldtime newsgroup (if it is carried by your news server).

  3. trashDo NOT expect emailed answers to questions related to the following:

    • Queries to determine if your long-lost twin third cousin was the announcer in a radio show that may have originated somewhere in Desolate, North Dakota, during the Depression.

    • Scripts or their locations.
That info is elsewhere in www.old-time.com (remember the local search engine is there to help you).
HINT: See the OTR FAQ, Answer #23.

    • Where or how to locate, rent or buy OTR material.
Information on purchasing from commercial dealers or joining OTR clubs is elsewhere at the site that accessed this page. (If you found your way here by accident, lists of commercial dealers are in the sponsors section of the "Program Guide"). A fairly decent online OTR program search engine is also available.

    • Homework assignments.
See the online bibliography for some titles of books related to OTR, or visit the reference areas at this site for some good information. You might even consider buying one of our recommended books on OTR!

    • Any other question whose answer is contained in the OTR FAQ, or is already included in one of the easily-searched pages at my site.

  4. If you are reporting a problem at any of the sites I manage, please include as much information as you can, including the URL, page or file name, the date you experienced the problem, what browser you use, and if the problem is repeatable. If you accessed this page from the page with problems, some of that information might already be filled in for you.

  5. Audio problems? The audio files mentioned at various of my sites were all OK at last check. If you can't hear them, please read your documentation, or the documentation at the RealAudio site. If you are sure the problem is at my site, please let me know!

  6. Do not send me unsolicited commercial email!
