I just heard an old radio adaption of Orwell's 1984 in english class yesterday and couldn't help but chuckle at some of the inconsistencies... the producers must have missed the novel's point if they thought it was purely a warning against communism. I found it ironic, too, that there was a droning promotion for American Steel during the interlude. Reminded me of the babbling telescreen. Another thing that had me laughing was the toned-down manner of Julia and Winston's relationship (in the novel she dominated the affair). The saving grace, I thought, was the voice actor who did O'Brien. Pretty good. Anyone know what theater was behind this?
