Frances Langford passed away today at the age of 91. On radio she will most likely be remembered for playing the insufferable wife, Blanche, opposite Don Ameche in the radio comedy "The Bickersons." She will definitely be missed.

Besides The Bickersons, Frances Langford also was the singing host of the "Maxwell House Coffee Time" show and many others. She was just great as a singer or as a comedian. We will miss her as Blanch Bickerson. And who will ever forget her on all those USO tours with Bob Hope in the south pacific, North Africa,Italy and other far flung places around the globe and all her great movies. God bless you Frances wherever you're! God has a special place in heaven for you up there with Bob Hope, Don Ameche,The Andrew Sisters, and all the other great stars who were lucky to have acted with her!God bless you, Frances Langford, Always!

I had the pleasure of receiving a note and
autographed picture from her only two years
ago. I wrote, telling her of my appreciation
for her role as Blanche, her touring with
Bob, supporting the troops, etc. She was
very gracious and upbeat. I never thought
she'd write back! Her signature was real
(a little shaky, but whose wouldn't be at
age 89), and I will forever treasure this
momento from such a wonderful person.

She was a real asset to Hope, along with Skinnay Ennis, Colona and Vera Vague, and was terrific as Blanche Bickerson; she and Ameche played off of each other masterfully. If memory serves (and it often doesn't), after her retirement, Ms. Langford married one of the Evinrudes of outboard motor fame and lived in or near Milwaukee; I think she had been married to movie actor Jon Hall in her young
