As usual, the Associated Press barely mentions his radio career in half a sentence and even John Dunning's encyclopedia only credits him with that one show. But,ironically, a book that I have about TV (the title is simply Television, author is Michael Winship, published in 1988), gives far more details. Mr. Henning began at KMBC Radio in Kansas City and was soon hired on as an assistant writer for the Johnson's Wax Program after writing a "spec" script for Fibber McGee and Molly. That book also credits him with radio work for Joe E Brown and and Rudy Vallee. Henning is quoted in the book as follows
" Writing for radio was a breeze. You could write a script in a couple of days, if you had the right idea"
