I HAVE ABOUT 100 78 RPM 'SIDES' BY THE KORN KOBBLERS, ALSO SOME 16 INCH "AIR PLAY". DURING WW II THEIR THEME SONG WAS "COLONEL CORN", BUT WAS LATER DROPPED FOR AN INSTRUMENTAL THEME. I'D LIKE TO FIND A "DUB" OF THIS THEME. I HAVE "COLONEL CORN" BY F. FISHER, WHO ACTUALLY WROTE IT.--THANX

You probably know that the Kobblers were a spin-off of the Fisher Band. Stan Fritz took most of the Schnicklefritzers with him to form the Kobblers, including lead trumpet Nels Laakso.

Spike Jones "borrowed" several gimmicks from both bands, including Stan's high button shoes.

When were the syndicated 16" transcriptions made? I have about an hour-and-a-half of these on an old reel-to-reel tape. I don't know how to date them because all the song they play were oldies, even then.

I've never heard the Cobblers performing "Colonel Corn."

One of their 78s would appeal to OTR fans: "I'm In Love With The Sound Effects Man."

There are some dandy web sites avail
