I vaguely remember a broadcast of Suspense in the fall of 1942.
I was only 7 years old at the time but the memory of it is still with me. One of my first memories of radio.
As I remember, a couple were driving down the road late at night when a pair of headlights from what seemed to be a truck suddenly appeared in the rear view mirror.
The driver slowed down to let it pass. It slowed down. He stopped. The truck stopped. The driver got out of the car but couldn't see anyone driving the truck. He got back in the car and started speeding. The truck stayed right behind him.
I can't remember the ending but I think the truck eventually ran over them or forced them off the road killing them.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Jim,
There was no such story broadcast on "Suspense". However, one of the "lost episodes" of Arch Obler's "Lights Out" is "What the Devil", broadcast on October 6, 1942. In the book "The Twilight Zone" companion, it's mentioned that several scripts were considered for that show's final season but were never filmed, including one by Obler called "What the Devil". The synopsis: a couple of murderers are chased along a highway by a dynamite truck driven by Satan. Based on all that, I'd guess that you heard this "Lights Out" broadcast back in 1942.

Thank you very much for the reply. That sure sounds like it.
I just did a search for it and see it was on CBS. My parents usually listened to WJR Detroit, the CBS affiliate there.
I sure wish it was available. I'd
