| I was sad to learn of the passing of one of Old Time Radio's nicest and most endearing stars, Harry Bartell. Harry passed away on Feb. 26th, 2004 and will be greatly missed. |

| Thw loss of Harry Bartell and Jan Miner within a week of each other hurts us OTR fans a lot. God bless them both!! |

Harry was a moderately frequent visitor to Lois Culver's chat channel. His initial appearance there attracted record numbers of visitors, many of whom asked good questions about OTR and Harry's role. In that, and subsequent visits, Harry was a font of knowledge about the world of OTR as it was when it was the ONLY radio around.
I strongly suggest you do a web search for "Harry Bartell", and see some of the MANY starring roles he played in both radio and movies. Harry was just getting into the swing of things Webbish, when his wife died. He would still appear occasionally, and leave us all feeling better educated about The Good Ol' Days. He was unfailingly courteous, even when some of the other visitors were less so. Observant visitors, however, could recognize that some of the "spark" was gone. God bless you, Harry, and may you find the hereafter to be at least as entertaining as you were while with us. More info about Harry can be found at:
Postscript: Lois Culver's chat channel won't be the same without Harry. It will be even less so without Lois. Ms Culver is now in a nursing home, and has limited access to the Web. She can be reached by the following address: Lois H. Culver

I will miss Harry Bartell. I never met him in real life, but I certainly wish that I had. I will forever remember him as the Petri Wine slogan announcer on the radio show, "The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes."
He was one of the last surviving people from that radio show and what's even better yet is that he got to meet Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, two of my favorite OTR and movie actors. That in itself was a great privilege and pleasure many of us wish we could have had. Rest in peace forever Harry Bartell. You will not be forgotten.
