| HELP, PLEASE! There must be car commercials from the 30's, 40's and 50's on many OTR radio broadcasts, but I can only come up with one, and that was FORD on the "Dinah Shore Show". Since I'm drawing a blank (senior one?), it would be greatly appreciated if anyone's knowledge (or guess) might know where there are others, such as BUICK, OLDSMOBILE, PACKARD, STUDEBAKER, NASH, or any make at all?? Or car products, like SIGNAL OIL on The Whistler, or AUTOLITE on Suspense. Many thanks in advance for your help. I KNOW you can do better than I did! |

Janet,
Are you looking for commercials for autos or auto related products? Do you want audio copies or ones from scripts? I have a script of "Ross Dolan; I Deal in Crime" which has commercials for Hastings Piston Rings ("best money you can spend on your car") and Casite ("guarantees quick-starting even in sub-zero weather") Jack French

Hi Jack,
Thanks for your response to my auto question. I'm looking for audio commercials, either for the car itself or related things, such as pistons, batteries, gasoline, tires, etc. Fortunately, I have had a couple of responses by email, so I do have a few to work with. Unfortunately, there were so many syndicated programs in the radio days that I KNOW have those commercials, I've heard them over the years, and I'm sure there are some in my own collection, but I just don't know which shows they're in, if that makes sense. Thanks again for your response and offer of the printed matter, perhaps that will be useful at another time. |

Janet, it was the Dinah Shore Chevy Show. And it was Dinah herself who sang the Chevrolet commercial. "See the USA in your Chevrolet...." A bit later on, CBS Radio news came on with logo music that sounded very much like the Chevy jingle shortened to match the melody, "See the USA."
