Hello, my name is Robert Lurie. I teach English and Creative Writing at University of North Carolina-Wilmington. For some time I have been batting around the idea of doing a full-length biography of Arch Oboler. What I'm wondering is, has one ever been attempted, or is there anyone currently working on such a project? I need to make sure I'm not retreading before I begin such an undertaking.
Please email me at rdlurie7@yahoo.com Thanks, Robert Lurie |

All I've ever seen are what would be called "a thumbnail bio"
not much more then a paragraph.....I've never seen a lengthy, book size bio on him.... |

| I'd definitely be interested in publishing this if you Do manage to find enough. I run BearManor Media which specializes in radio books. I'd also love to put out a book of his scripts. But, I've been told by someone who knows, it's going to be difficult. According to my info Oboler's secretary is in charge of the estate and has all the scripts and info but has not done anything with them. I've written to the estate several times and even Sperdvac has tried to get in touch, with no response. I could be wrong about who's in charge, but all I hope is that someone Will have access to the material someday. |

| I don't know of any full length Oboler bio, and would love to read one. He's a fascinating and now nearly forgotten figure from old time radio, and it would be nice to see him honored. His career paralleled the rise and fall of OTR drama, and any bio of him would be in part a history of that period. Good luck! |

Mr. Lurie, there is a web site devoted to monster movies called THE ASTOUNDING B MONSTER. While browsing this site I came across a feature about Arch Oboler and his career after radio.
Its not much, but it might be interesting to you. The address for the page that I was on is |
