hi!
i live in vermont and once i retired, i began reading to the elderly in nursing homes. since then, i have also added some music and poetry and it is very gratifying to see the enjoyment these dear folks get from these hours i spend with them. recently, it occurred to me that they would love to listen to favorite old time radio shows, too, and i borrowed the few our local library had and they were a BIG HIT!!
these small things bring many happy hours to many dear people! thank you and God Bless!

You might consider joining one or more of the OTR clubs listed at this (or other) sites. You can then borrow / rent tapes from them, just as you would from a library, but for a small fee. If your financial condition is such that even that small expense is overwhelming, consider a one-time investment in a suitable, used MP3 player, and get on one or more of the MP3 / CD-Rom distribution lists. Even better, if the shows are indeed helpful or entertaining to the folks in the nursing homes. Approach that establishment's Activities Director, and see if they will purchase a playback device (or some tapes) for the establishment. Unfortunately, if there is no one to champion the cause, any tapes donated to the establishment will probably molder away in a box in a storage room. To be successful, a "Memories of OTR" effort needs both an active volunteer and a few tapes. Lou
