| Sometime in the late 20's and early 30's (definately 1929 and 1930) there was a radio program called The Checker Cabbies. The theme song was titled "Call a Checker Cab." It was on Station WOR in New York (Thursdays at 7:30). This station still exists, but they no longer have any recordings or info on the show. I would love to get a copy of this theme song, but any info about this show would be nice. Thank you very much! WTB |

A couple of sources for you:
There is a book called "Taxi! A Look at Checkers Past" that very briefly discusses the WOR radio show and includes a copy of the sheet music. Try contacting Misc Enterprises, 1080 Holliston Ave, Pasadena, CA 91104-3014 or call 626-794-7973. I have no connection with this organization and cannot vouch for them. Or you can try contacting Joe Fay ( jfay@kpmg.com ) who has copied the sheet music in the past. Not sure if he is still there at that address. | <
