I wonder if anyone remembers a radio commentator/personality by the name of Galen Drake---I have not found much mention of him in OTR----just a brief paragraph in John Dunning's Encyclopedia of OTR (an excellent reference)---I was wondering if any one knows more of him and if he is still living.

Drake was born Jul 26, 1907 in Kokomo, ID and got into radio as a college kid at UCLA. He sang and briefly conducted the local symphony on the air. His success began with a 1945 show on ABC, addressed to housewives. He moved to CBS and his five-days a week show of kitchen philosophy enjoyed high ratings. Later he had another (similar) show on WOR. He authored a book, titled with his radio signature, "This is Galen Drake." In the late 50s, ABC-TV carried his show. Drake died on Jun 30, 1989 at the age of 83. About a dozen of his radio shows have survived.

Thank you for the information---will see if I can find a copy of his book---he had a rather distinctive voice-I have a very brief sample on one of the OTR tapes
