With the advent of MP3 technology I have come across many many dealers offering collections of the Jack Benny radio program on MP3. Is there an edition that can be considered the definitive version? I am VERY interested in buying a collection that can be as close to a complete collection as possible. Is there ANYONE out there who has found/purchased anything esembling my desire? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Frank |

These "collections" are put together by the collectors (and dealers) themselves. ANY 'edition' that contains all the shows available would be a "definitive" version. But remember, as technology increases, new versions of these shows are released with problem areas cleaned up more and more, so what is "definitive" today may need to be replaced next year if you are a purist.
Aren't most of the shows available for free dowload? You may have to search for some shows, but I know http://www.jackbeny.org have all the available episodes (and they aren't the only ones), so you could make your own definitive collection. The thing I don't understand is why would someone buy a collection off ebay for 2 or 3 times what you can get from a dealer? Or are they actually cheaper by trying to outbid someone else?

I think it is safe to answer this with a NO. The reason is that recently Radio Spirits signed an exclusive license with the Jack Benny estate (Joan Benny), who still has unreleased episodes, which will gradually become available as Joan releases them.
So whatever is currently circulating, one has to know that more will be forthcoming through RS.
