| When an announcer introduces a show saying "partially transcribed", what portion of the show was usually recorded. Was it the music? The commercials? Can anyone please answer? Thanks. |

Could be any of the above, or even a portion of the program. You would have to know which show it is. Often, as in the complicated beginings of some of the kids shows, only the first minutes might be recorded and played BUT all the rest of the show done live. Other shows, including "Gunsmoke", had the opening played from transcription.
Sometimes part of the "live" program could be transcribed. There's a Tom Mix episode which was done live, and inserted into the middle of the show was a scene in which Mix and Mike Shaw talk to the real Babe Ruth at the Dobie train station. That few minutes was recorded before the show and then inserted into the action when the show was broadcast. Too many shows used transcribed music and/or commercials to list here. Jack French |
