Can anyone recommend a good source to acquire tapes of the radio situation comedy, "Joe and Ethel Turp?"

I'm producing a show about "The Honeymooners" and Art Carney has said that his early radio character, Billy Oldham, was an early version of Ed Norton.

Thanks in advance.

There is no source of this series as none have apparently survived. It first aired as a syndicated show in 1941. It was resurrected in 1943 with a different cast on NBC and it ran from January to September. Joe was Jackson Beck, Ethel was Patsy Campbell, Billy Oldham was Art Carney, and Ethel's Uncle Ben was Jack Smart. The series was based on the stories of Damon Runyon. It was a 15 minute situation comedy, airing 3-5 times weekly. While it is not impossible you could find a copy in someone's attic today, it's extremely unlikely.

Although this will probably not help with information regarding Art Carney's career, there is at least one Turp skit contained in a surviving episode of "Good News of 1940," hosted by Edward Arnold. I'm not certain of the exact date, but it is available in the SPERDVAC archive collection.
