This posting is inspired by the Bring 'Em Back exchange. I felt it needed it's own heading.

Last Saturday evening I was tuning my car radio, whose digital readout works only intermittently and never when I need it, and stumbled across a dramatization of Billy Budd. When the episode finished the program was identified as Focus On The Family Radio Theater on a Boston-area Christian station,WEZE.

The episode I heard was well produced radio drama with an OTR flavor.

I'm the last person to be hyping Focus on the Family whose right-wing politics and "conservative" brand of Chistianity I regard as dangerous. If this offends anyone I offer my apologies, but it had to be said.

But, credit where credit is due, I enjoyed the episode I heard and others may want to seek the program out.

I agree with you that the normal content of Focus On The Family is decidedly un-biblical to my ears, by their radio dramas are outstanding

I am FOR Focus On The Family and their dramatizations. See what a lousy world liberals have spawned. You can thank the previously PRO-conservative, Christian value world for the very old time radio shows you like. Focus On The Family is a small voice in this very large secular, anti-Christian world. So if you like their dramatizations, I suggest you get down on your knees and PRAY it's there! Having said all that, I am NOT a Bible banger. I swear like a trooper at times. And God has a long way to go with me. But I DO support ANY organization that tries to keep some VALUES in this world. And if you take the family away, which the liberals are trying to do, then you have no standards of values. The first thing that anti-Christ wants to do is kill off the family. All you have to do is pick up your newspaper or listen to radio and TV news to find out what a lousy world anti-family forces have given us.

I will venture a guess that the dramatization you heard was more likely produced by the Theater Guild or another such series in the golden age of radio. I say that because there are several religious stations in my city that run hour-long classic radio theater such as from the Theater Guild late at night for several hours. However again, those dramatizations are not actually newly produced shows, but old time radio re-runs. And again, you can thank GOD for that! :) That will be 20 Hail Mary's, 20 Our Fathers, and 20 Glory Be To The Holy Ghost for the rest and repose of the poor souls in Purgatory. :)

Focus on the Family has excellent radio theater dramas. They have a great CS Lewis 'Lion, Witch, & the Wardrobe', 'The Secret Garden', and others. I'm curious as to what 'anti-Christian' or 'anti-Biblical'values you are referring to, as I've never had a problem with any stands Focus takes.

So...someone liked Billy Budd, Sailor. Being the one who produced that show I'd like to thank you for the encouragement! Sometimes we (engineers here at Focus on the Family who create the radio dramas) need to step back from our projects and hear outside opinions. It's nice to know that they're really liked. It's hard work,
