| Looking for anyone who is familiar with either the "Standard School Broadcast" or "Redi-Kilowatt Show". The first I listened to at school for years, the second was a local short program in Yakima, Washington. I do have some printed material about "Standard". Thanks |

Alice,
I don't have any information about the Redi Kilowatt show per se, but the name immediately brought to mind that the same marketing character was used in Conn. in the 1960's. Hartford's Ch.3, then WTIC-TV, broadcast "What In The World?", a goegraphical quiz show, Tuesdays at 7 PM. It was sponsored by the Hartford Electric Light Company (HELCO); Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P), and the United Illuminating Company - the Electric Companies of Connecticut. (I have to have a tie-in with old-time radio...the commercial announcer was Ben Hawthorne, who had been WTIC radio's morning host from 1932-34 to 1943, when he joined the Army. He later hosted the morning show on WTHT in that city, with George Danks.) Anyway, it leads me to believe that Redi was used as commecial "spokesman" for electric companies in the U.S. Macandrew |

| Not just in the United States. My wife's father worked for Ontario Hydro back in the '60's, and she remembers Redi Kilowatt very well. She, in fact, has a number of promotional items from Hydro with Redi on them. |

| The Standard School Broadcast was heard regionally on NBC from about 1928 to 1958 (approximate ending date since I don't know what year it ended on the network) After its long network run, it went into syndication for another 10 years or so. My memory is fuzzy now as to what day and time it was broadcast. But I do remember hearing it in the early to mid 60s on a local " |
