How successful was the Mel Blanc Show during the mid-forties. Of the few shows I have listened to the comedy was pretty lame. Obviously Mr. Blanc was a talented individual but these shows IMO were not a proper venue for him. Any comments?

I agree! He seemed to limit himself too much, using his real voice as "Mel" and his Porky Pig voice for his friend Yuki (or whatever his name was). None of the show's characters was particularly endearing; they are all idiots! And the story line from week to week was more or less the same: Mel imitates his boss or some other figure in order to drive away a new threat that competes for his girlfriend. But I must concede, there were some high points, like his imitation of a cracked Caruso record. Evidently the show was popular enough to run for 2 or 3 seasons on CBS.

By golly, I entirely agree. I vaguely recall some Mel Blanc Fix-It Shop or something. I never made it a point to tune it in again. Whenever I would hear it by accident, I quickly tuned out. But he sure was good on the Jack Be
