to - Jack:
I see that you are doing a bit on "Breakfast Couples" later this month. I hope to meet you at the show but, I wanted to share this incident in here. I live across the river from where the World Trade Center attack took place and later that day I went to volunteer at the local hospital. Most of what I had to do was to make arrangements for people who had been evacuated from their homes near the WTC. They were showered and dressed in whatever clean clothing we could get for them. One older man in a flannel shirt and a baseball cap just kept asking for updates on what their accomodations for the night was going to be, and I tried to get whatever news I could from a very disorganized operation. He was appreciative of everything I could tell him and wanted to call some friends to see if they could put him up. When he stood up to make a phone call, I was able to read his name tag - "Tex McCrary". Tex was amazed that I recognized the name, and I told him that his was my favorite of the big three breakfast programs here in the Metropolitan area. I helped him further and he asked me what he could do for me, so I told him that he had to autograph his page in the Encyclopedia of Old Radio. When he left he still had plans to be in Boston on Saturday to make his annual Tex McCrary Medal of Honor Award. |

this past weekend I ran into the people who took Tex home that night of 9/11 - they said that he stayed here for two days before going to stay with friends in New York City. I know the complex where he lives was closed for over a month, but he is back there now.
My friends also told me that Jinx is alive and well, but that she and Tex now live in separate places, because she didn't feel c |
