Hello Everyone, Well my OTR collection is starting to grow. I'm now at a point where I need to know if I have complete collections. For example, can anyone tell me how many episodes were created for the Arch Obler, Lights Out series? And how many episodes for the series of Inner Sactum?
This will get me started... Please could someone point me in the correct direction. Regards, CJ |

The information you seek is contained in program "logs". These are usually chronological lists of the series' episodes and often indicate which have survived and are currently available.
Frank Passage's old-time radio logs are available from this site at: http://www.old-time.com/otrlogs/ while Jerry Haendiges's Vintage Radio Logs are at: http://www.otrsite.com/radiolog/ |

There are actually two types of information you want.
1. For number of shows in a series, their titles, and broadcast dates, you need a broadcast log of a series. There are many series broadcast logs on-line. Here are some sources: Jerry's Vintage Radio Logs (He lists what shows are in his collection) http://www.otrsite.com/radiolog/ Radio Logs (Very basic information) Old Time Radio Program Logs. Many of the logs at this site also give background information and may list availability information on the various series. http://old-time.com/otrlogs/index.html There are also printed broadcasts logs available for purchase. These vary from a list of single series, such those produced by Jay Hickerson, to a book of 300 series broadcast logs such "Radio Drama : A Comprehensive Chronicle of American Network Programs, 1932-1962 " by Martin Grams Jr. (available through amazon.com) A partial listing of Jay's is at: http://www.old-time.com/sponsors/hickerson2.html#logs 2. Episode Availability Information. The number and dates of epsiodes for a specific that are Actually Available to collectors. There are very few complete series available. Most have episodes that are lost or missing. There is a printed source that gives you availability information. "The New, Revised Ultimate History of Network Radio Programming and Guide to All Circulating Shows" is produced and published by Jay Hickerson and is well worth the money. One of its main features is that it lists all shows that are available to collectors. A completely revised edition is due out next month. You can find more information on this valuable source at: |
