Just one last comment:
I'm as anti-"Radio Spirits" as the next OTR fan but I've got to give them credit where credit is due. I became a fan of Fort Laramie after hearing one of the episodes on one of their 30 tape albums. I just started listening to the Fort Laramie series, having purchased the entire run of episodes on cassette at the recent FOTR convention. Wow, did I save money. But, you get what you pay for and you pay for what you get. Simply put, the sound quality is horrible. I have to constantly fiddle with the sound quality controls to listen to the dialogue --it is not an enjoyable process. The dealer at the convention was as sweet as apple pie when I inquired about the sound quality (which he guaranteed ) but you should hear how he crabs now when I complain to him. We can crab all we want, but RS did, at a minimum, improve the sound quality of the shows. |

1. Who was the dealer? 2. What was his excuse for not making it right? 3. Have you indeed compared the audio on the same episodes with Radio Spirits tapes? Lou |

In this litigous society I would rather not give their names; who knows what would result.
Why wouldn't he make it right? The response was that no one else has complained so it must be my equipment (I did try the tapes out on another cassete player to no avail). To further press the issue would not be economically feasible; I'me here and he's there; if he and I are both at next year's FOTR I'll make noise. I've only compared one episode of the series--I couldn't find another Fort Laramie episode that RSI published. The sound on the RSI tape was better quality. Look, RSI is not the be all-end all, but what other choices do we have? AIC and other are gone. I'm sure that there are other smaller operations that produce quality work--I'll find them. This was my third substandtal purchase at FOTR (3 conventions) and I've had dogs before (though more dogs at this past convention than ever-Superman tapes as well as the Laramie tapes) but the dealers bent over backwards to make good. And I thank them for that--I'm in NJ and they are spread accross the country. Thanks for letting me vent as well as clearly stating that there are honorable dealers as well. |
