Does anyone remember "The Mad Russian", a skit regularly done on some show in the late 40's? If so I'd like to know whose show he was on...he was hilarious!!!

The Mad Russian, Bert Gordon, was a vaudeville actor whose first big appearance was on "The Eddie Cantor Show," starting in the 1930's. After WWII, Gordon appeared infrequently on "Duffy's Tavern." Unfortunately, his character was not always politically correct for the time.

Bert Gordon was the fellow who played this character - originally on Eddie Cantor`s show I believe, I know he later appeared as a guest or semi regular on several programs among them Duffy`s Tavern, which may be the show you were thinking of. I sure someone else probably has more information. --Dan

You can SEE the Mad Russian in a very brief cameo spot in the movie 1942 "Thank Your Lucky Stars," featuring Eddie Cantor and an all-star cast. (It was released on video recently.)

You can also see him on one episode of THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW.
