I need some help tracking down any information about a radio comedy from the mid thirties. I think the name was The Johnson Family, and from what I can gather it was a black family comedy somewhat in the nature of Amos & Andy. I know that Jimmy Scribner was a part of this show and I have an advertisement from 1936 in the form of a dart board with the character of the show pictured on it. If anyone has any knowledge of this show, please e-mail me at mg1@icx.net
Thanks Tom |

First of all, Tom, we don't send out individual responses on this BBS, so please don't request same. We're trying to share knowledge, not hoard it.
Secondly, Jimmy Scribner was not just part of "The Johnson family"; he portrayed ALL the voices, a complete village of African-American characters. Depending on when you counted, he was doing from 20 to 60 different roles. The show began in 1934 and ran on and off, including syndication until 1952. There are over 77 episodes in trading currency today. Jack French Editor: Radio Recall |

1. Read the FAQ at http://www.old-time.com/otrfaq.html 2. The Humongous Database at this site shows 44 episodes of the Johnson Family at various OTR clubs. Lou
