| In the 1920s the United States Department of Agriculture started a radio show called Aunt Sammy's Housekeeper's Chat to give recipes, food canning tips, etc. The main character was Aunt Sammy, wife of Uncle Sam. Does anyone have tape of one of these broadcasts or where one might be obtained? |

I'll bet our friend Elizabeth McLeod would know the answer to this question, but my guess is that there were never any recordings made of this program...If there were, it would be tough to find out if one still exists today....
On a side note, at a recent antique and collectibles show in Northern California, I actually bought a book called "Aunt Sammy's Radio Recipe's Revised", put out in 1931 by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's Bureau of Home Economics...It says in the book that this radio service for women started in 1926, and this 1931 volume of the book was the 4th enlarged edition of the recipes...This was due to the large number of requests for copies of the recipes Aunt Sammy gave during her daily Housekeeper's Chats.
