Recently came across this show while surfing the net. The particular episode featured the Bickersons (Don Ameche and Frances Langford) and Danny Thomas in a "supporting" role. Can anyone fill me in on the history of this show. Thanks.

DRENE TIME was heard Sunday evening at 10 PM on NBC for Drene Shampoo. It was a half hour variety show with Don Ameche as the host. The program featured Danny Thomas in a comedy routine (Ameche also took part in the routine), and Frances Langford singing a song or two.

The highlight of the program took place during the latter stages of the broadcast. After the second Drene Shampoo commercial was presented, "The Bickersons" sketch took place. It featured Ameche and Ms. Langford as John and Blanche Bickerson, and Thomas as Blanche's brother Amos.

The Drene program ran for 1 season (1946-1947). The Bickersons would be heard the following season on CBS for Old Gold Cigarettes.

The main characters were Don Ameche and Francis Langford, with a young Danny Thomas in support as the brother-in-law Amos. In the early 1950's (1951), it resurfaced briefly as "The Bickersons" with Lew Parker as John. However, I don't think he held a candle to Ameche. Marsha Hunt played Blan
