| In the fall of 1953, I heard a program episode called "The Mask of Ashur." I don't know the name of the series, but the category was definitely what Radio Spirits calls "suspense/scary." I'm also unsure of the spelling of the last word, but I do remember that it was the name of an ancient Mesopotamian god. The program was probably on Mutual, and probably on a Monday evening. Can anyone identify the series for me? |

Might have been a rerun of "Tarzan and the Diamonds of Asher", which was syndicated in 1934. Interestingly enough, Tarzan was heard on the radio between 1932 and 1953, so there might have been a reprise of one of the Ashur shows.
As best I can tell, there were no nationally broadcast series that started with the word "Mask". You might check the Humongous Database to see if any episodes started with that word. Lou

Thanks for the suggestion. No, I'm sure the series wasn't named anything beginnig with "Mask," just that episode. And it definitely wasn't anything to do with Tarzan! The setting was contemporary America, and the gimmick was that if one saw the face of Ashur, sans mask, that person's minutes were numbered. Mary

| Sounds to me like episode 10 from The Hall Of Fantasy 03-09-53 "Masks of Ashor". At least it is the same style (Suspense/Scary) |

Bob is probably correct. I ran a search with the Humongous database, looking for the word "mask" in any part of the episode title, and got the following results. The Hall of Fantasy episode was at the very top!
