For those of you not familiar with it, "Nazi Eyes On Canada" was a CBC produced show from 1942. It was hosted by Lorne Greene, and brought in guest stars such as Vincent Price, Helen Hayes, Orson Welles, the couple who played Mr. & Mrs. Aldrich (Katherine Ross and House Jamison), etc. Each week, they took an actual person or family from some region of Canada and then dramatized their story as to what their life was like "now" (i.e.- 1942), and what it would be like in a Nazi-occupied Canada. A major goal of the show was to encourage people to participate in the war loan in order to prevent "Nazi eyes on Canada from becoming Nazi feet on Canada".
Jerry Haendiges' log indicates that there were six episodes done, but only five seem to be extant. Does anyone know anything about the second episode at all? Who starred in it? What story did it tell? When did the series run? Was it a suppertime show, or was it run after the kiddies went to bed? Was it aired in the U.S. at all, or was it only in Canada? (I suspect the latter, since the U.S. wasn't yet in the war, and since the war loan drive was a Canadian thing.) In each episode, they mention the renegade, Colin Ross, who supposedly spied on Canada in the early 1930's and reported back on strategic sites, etc. (Supposedly, too, he spied out other countries that *did* fall under Nazi domination.) They mention that his report was "not yet published in the English language", but that it had been translated and used as the basis for what the Nazi plans for Canada were. Does anyone know if Ross really existed, or if his book really existed, or were they just a useful construction? If the book really existed, was it ever published in English? Thanks. |

The five "available" episodes seem to be:
The shows had an excellent cast, including: Orson Welles, Vincent Price, Helen Hayes, Judith Evelyn, House Jameson, and Quentin Reynolds. I seem to remember a company obtained a license for exclusive distribution of this series, from the CBC.
