Roma & Petri Wines--- not sure, but I haven't found either brand in the stores where wine is sold.
Rexall Drugs--- yes. Known today as Rexall Showcase International. Fitch Shampoo--- no. The most recent magazine advertisment was during the early 1960's. Wildroot Cream-Oil--- very doubtful. I haven't seen Wildroot Cream-Oil in the stores since the early 1990's. |

| Very interesting to discover a remnant of the Rexall chain still in existence, I,d thought they had likewise long since disappeared. Dan |

| I thought I saw a jug of Roma Wine in the liquor store recently. And the name Petri Wine sounds familiar. Let me recall now. Roma Wine sponsored "Suspense." And Petri sponsored Sherlock Holmes. And I have seen the Rexall Drug Stores sign in my neck of the woods. |

I follow that link to Rexall. I sent them an e-mail. I thank them for sponsoring the Phil Harris/Alice Faye show.
I wonder if the person who reads that e-mail will have any idea what I am talking about. |

Got a reminiscence for you folks. Way back in the days when the radio shows were first on the air, I'd listen to the shows at the barber shop in my home town. Actually, there were two barber shops in my home town -- Jack's and Mack's. But Mack's was my favorite. On the shelf was a bottle of Kreml. Every time I went there I would look up at the bottle of Kreml. It was never opened! Then I recalled "The Adventures of Sam Spade," sponsored by Kreml. Or at least, Kreml had an occasional ad on the show. Finally one day, I asked Mack if I could have some Kreml on my hair. "Kreml? Kreml? Ha! How about Wildroot?" So Wildroot it was that went on my ten-years old mop of hair. This is a true story. For those of you who have never gone to a real "guy's" barber shop, there are still some around. The alternative are what I call the beauty shops. None of them are very good at giving an "old man's haircut." But the good old-fashioned men's barber shops are still out there. And it's nice top read a Field & Stream or Playboy Magazine and talk to the old timers that congregatate there.

Wildroot Cream-Oil is still with us! Like with other longtime brand name products, it is now made by a new company. Stephan Company has acquired the Original Wildroot (Wildroot Cream-Oil's present name), Cashmere Bouquet Talcum Powder, Quinsana, and other products from Colgate-Palmolive and Mennen.
If you're interested in purchasing the Original Wildroot, the web site is www.originalwildroot.com . | <
