looking for sources of stock music that would have been used in places like radio drama or movie serials in the 30's-50's era. any ideas?

I notice in a recent issue of Cool and Strange Music Magazine that a CD compilation of the old production libraries has been issued -- I believe mostly from the Chappel library. There is a photo of a bank of elevators on the cover -- the title refers to "Elevator Music." There may be others in the series.

Of course, some of the most famous and familiar was that used on "The Lone Ranger": Listz's "Les Preludes", Mendelssohn's "Fingal's Cave", plus the ever popular "William Tell Overture" by Ross
