In surfing I found a site that featured a radio drama show entitled "Unshackled". The site www.unshackled.org

This is a "religious" radio drama show that has been on the air since 1950 and is still being produced and aired on 1,150 radio stations worldwide. (They say they have 2,620 dramas produced.)

The site proclaims that "Unshackled" is the longest running old time radio drama show in history! Is this true? If not what would be considered the longest running old time radio drama show?

Thanks, Bob

"Unshackeled" is produced in Chicago at the Moody Bible Institute studios on the near north side. You can occasionally hear a mature voice from the "golden age" (pre-1950) commercial programs, some of the old Chicago radio row regulars. These programs are transcribed and syndicated around the country, especially to Christian stations. Most of the scripts are rather loosely based on true experiences and stories.

The programs are produced one-per-week, but tapes from the 1959 to the present are played nightly (except Sundays) at 8:00 pm PACIFIC TIME on www.kvip.org.

That would probably be true, since the last 'official' OTR show ended in 1962. 50 years would put the longest possible drama to start in 1911,which I don't think happened ;-)

So what IS the longest running radio drama (outside of "Unshackled)? Lone Ranger was 22 Shadow was 17 or 22 depending on where you consider its start Lux Radio Theater was 21 (I guess a better choice for drama, but let's not quibble too much) Suspense was 20
