During a quiz session of my local radio club, the question was posed, "Which radio show began with a telephone ringing?" I objected to the query since it could have several correct answers. I was thinking of Candy Matson, Lun & Abner, Sam Spade, and Duffy's Tavern.

How many others can you recall that had this opening?

Just found another one, "Crime Club". The phone rings, the librarian (narrator) answers it and says, "Yes, we have that one available" and he gives the name of the mystery for the evening's program.
