| Does anyone know the name of the classical music piece that accompanies the opening of the old time radio classic - Sargent Preston of the Yukon? Hope you can help. Thanks |

| No need to respond to this. I see in an earlier posted inquiry by Valerie, the information has already been provided. Great Luck. |

| Checked Buxton & Owen's "The Big Broadcast" and they said it was Donna Diana Overture by Reznicek. That confirmed it in my mind because I could remember the theme but not the title. |

Yep! I answered this question about a month ago to the same question on this board. Just a footnote. There are a lot of recordings of this piece of music. My favorite is a performance by the Boston Pops, conducted by Arthur Fiedler.
The show was produced by the same folks at WXYZ in Detroit that brought us The Lone Ranger. In fact, the cue music used in Sgt Preston is the SAME classical cue music you'll hear on The Lone Ranger. Now then, there are two versions of Sgt Preston of the Yukon. One uses a very simple trumpet fanfare. The other series uses the Dona Diana Overture by Count Reznizek. Yeah. He was a real Count. He's mostly known for this overture. Once in a while, I hear one of his flute concertos on the radio. Jim Stokes |
