Seeking any information I can get on the "Anheuser Busch Antics," which began on CBS in May of 1930. It originated from KMOX in St. Louis. Thanks.

Anheuser-Busch Antics was a fifteen-minute comedy/variety series heard Tuesday evenings at 10pm CST (11pm EST) over CBS. The program featured dialect comedian C. J. Gruber as a character called "Tony Cabooch," and was presented on behalf of Budweiser Malt Extract. Although Tony sounds like he might have been an Italian type, the only photo I've seen of Gruber in character shows him dressed in a rather Bavarian-looking outfit.

Thanks, Liz. I have two photos of "Tony." The A-B Brewery has limited material on the program. I'm mainly curious about how long it ran. Could find nothing about when it went off CBS. FYI, "Tony" had been on KMOX (Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:45 PM)before A-B Antics. During his first 14 weeks he had received 42,000 fan letters. His recording of "Under the Anheuser Busch" sold 4,000,000 copies. A press release called him "the Italian of kindly, but confuse
