| I had asked in a previous posting if I was mistaken in thinking that Jim Ameche (brother of Don) was in fact for a time the host of Chicago"s Breakfast Club. I cant recall whether he was pre or post Don MacNeil. Anybody? |

Sorry, but your memory has betrayed you this time. Don McNeill hosted this show before it was even called "The Breakfast Club". When he took it over in 1933, it was "The Pepper Pot". He changed it to "The Breakfast Club" and was its first, last and only host, both on radio and later TV.
Jim Ameche, as well as brother Don, had a great radio career, but he never hosted this famous morning show. |

Jeannie -- I don't recall Jim Ameche doing the Bkfst Club. But I sure do recall Don McNeil, Sam Cowling, Giselle McKenzie (the singing lass from Canada), and a large studio audience. Somebody mentioned why not serve breakfast at the BC? So, one morning they did.
I recall hearing the show. And if it go to be a certain "call for breakfast," my mom would tell me to quick get to school or I'll be late! I do recall Jim Ameche on WHN in New York in 1962 doing "Great Albums of Music." He would say "Dub--ee-yah HN, which we old radio anncrs were taught NOT to say. Must say it "DOUBLE-YEW." But heck, I was a Minneapolis radio guy. And he was working in New York. Bob & Ray, who were on in the morning called Jim Ameche, "the wolf man." Those were the days of Clevan & Finch. Or Cleban & Finch? Another pr of funny guys in the morning. Then the fomat changed. One thing you can count on in radio IS CHANGE! Jim Stokes |

| Did Julius LaRosa ever appear as a guest on the Breakfast Club? I visited the show as a child, and distinctly remember Julius introducing "We are Going to the Hookie |
