A really nice eulogy for WMAQ is presented at www.Radiodigest.com under the Chicago listing.
WMAQ is gone; but all of her great voices will always be remembered. My thanks to the few radio stations (WAMU-FM D.C.) that still remembers and celebrates radio's proud history! |

| Have I missed somewhere in these journals the reason that a radio station would give up its license after 78 years. That's a long time. I've been a loyal listener to the old time radio schedules most nights when the signal was strong enough to reach up here 30 miles north of Toronto. Its crazy how sometimes the station sounded as though it was right around the corner. Other times, well, we'll forget that. I also have had some great times listening in the "Hawks" games. Well so long partner. |

| Thanks for the link, Robert. I will go there after posting this. WMAQ has fallen, thanks to Viacom. It is a sad thing and I will miss this station very much. A good history is available at www.mcs.net/~richsam/home.html and the story of this is available at www.suntimes.com/output/television/30wmaq.html . Farewell, WMAQ, gone but not forgotten! Michael, Plain City area, Ohio. |
