Oops - I blinked, and missed congratulating the 500,000th person to enter www.old-time.com via the welcome page. :(

It happened just a few days ago. Somebody quietly clicked on the old radio and (hopefully) enjoyed learning a little more about old time radio.

Jack French was kind enough to offer a prize, too. :)

Well, I guess I should keep my eyes open for the millionth person. 8)

In any case, congratulations to Mr or Ms 500,000; whomever you are!

Lou

Really appreciate the forum to meet some great and knowledgeable people. Oh what memories come to mind from this wonderful work effort. Thanks for the folks that technically make OTR site possible and for the folks that visit and leave their thoughts.

Congrats from moi to Jack and Lou. If Jack is reading this, there was a Jack French who worked at KFYR, "Radio Center" in Bismark, North Dakota when I was a lad. Would that be this board's Jack French?

Jim,

Nope, that's not me. I never worked in any radio station. I have been researching and writing about OTR for over 25 years though. I grew up in Wisconsin in the 40s where radio was our primary entertainment.

I am frequently confused with Jim French, the radio drama writer who lives in Washington State and who produces "Imagination Theater". Since I'm near Washington, DC, people in this hobby get the "Frenchs from Washington" mixed up. But we're not related and we've never even met.

I apologize , but the last couple postings are rather like an OTR comedy bit, that someone thinks you are someone else...here in my city is a good looking young fellow that works for the city park board with same name as mine. I get his phone calls , "asking if the picnic is set for the local park..,etc..?" I tell them calmly I am not the one they must talk to.." They ask, but aren't you J.Cooper...?" and I say yes, that is my name, but you have the wrong person..and they start again, "But, I was to call J.Cooper and .." and I intrerrupt and say, now..I am not the person..and they say, "Is he your son...?" ..and I say no we are not related, and ...you must call the other J.Cooper listed in the phone book..etc..." FUNNY--and I always laugh to myself thinking I am doing a live OTR bit with this person.But... The real OTR favorite funny bit is the one that Red Skelton did on radio, when a girl comes up to him and slaps him..and Red asks, "Hey what was that all about, who are you?" And she answers, "Well, your ex=girl friend Mary Lou and you big bum George Wilson, for doing what you did to me.!"..and Red says, wait a minute, I'm not George Wilson...and she slaps him again and says .."well, that's just for looking exactly like him!" (ha-ha)
