:: 1) .... What yrs. was the Aragon in operation?

:: 2) ... Stan Freberg did a parody of the "Lawrence Welk Show" which ended with the Aragon floating out to sea when they couldn't shut the bubble machine off.

The Aragon Ballroom on Lick Pier in Venice, California opened in 1926. Lawrence Welk began his regular KTLA-TV series broadcasts from there in 1951. The ballroom was converted in 1967 into the Cheetah Club and was destroyed in a massive midnight fire on May 27, 1970.

"Wun'erful Wun'erful" (Side Uh-One & Side Uh-Two) was originally released as a 45-RPM single on Capitol in 1957, having first appeared - in a slightly different form - as a skit on the "Stan Freberg Show" CBS Rad
